A quick search on social media will reveal the endlessly creative ways people share their joyous news with others.

Supermodel mum-to-be Adut Akech has staged a stylish soiree for her baby shower which included a gender reveal.

Port Adelaide skipper Connor Rozee and his fiancee Maisie Packer also revealed the gender of their bubs, posting photos of Maisie in a pretty pink sundress and pink diamond necklace from Class A Jewellers.

Kyle Sandilands did Kyle Sandilands and went big, with an extravagant yacht party on Sydney Harbour together with fiance Tegan Kynaston.

It’s not unique; From Queensland, down the east coast and into SA, some soon-to-be Aussie parents choose to reveal the gender of their child by doing burnouts with the subsequent smoke emanating from burning rubber revealing the child’s gender.

Oddly, there seems to be a uniquely Australian element to the burnout gender reveal trend, with many vehicles bearing the iconic and proud Holden badge – part of a broader Australian muscle car culture.

And while some may look down upon the trend or sneer and stereotype, there’s nothing inherently wrong with car culture – a mainstay of Australian culture.

However, it’s unfortunate some people would choose to tarnish what should be a joyous occasion by driving recklessly, endangering others and ultimately breaking the law.

Perhaps there are safer and more creative ways Australians could include their passion for cars into their next gender reveal.
