A South Australian woman has gained overnight fame after a video of Harry Styles revealing the gender of her unborn baby went viral.
Gina Cunningham, 29, of Finniss flew to Sydney with her best friend Gemma Salvestro, 31, to see the As It Was singer in concert last weekend.
The pair attended his show at Accor Stadium on Friday night, but the magical moment unfolded during his last concert of the Australian leg of the tour 24 hours later.
Ms Cunningham and Ms Salvestro purchased tickets close to the stage and created a sign to grab Styles’ attention – it worked.
The sign said “Do my gender reveal?”, accompanied by two smaller signs reading “Girl?” and “Boy?”.
Ms Cunningham told The Advertiser that Styles acknowledged the signs with a smile and thumbs up during the opening numbers, but it wasn’t until later in the show that he approached her, pointed and asked for her name.
She describes the next moments as “surreal, exhilarating and hilarious”.
“I went blank, I didn’t think he was looking at me,” she said.
Styles dragged out the reveal, teasing the crowd and making reference to cheeky anecdotes well known among his fan base.
After a few minutes he yelled, “It’s a girl!” and was met with screams from every corner of the venue.
Long-time fan Ms Cunningham planned to ask Styles to make the reveal, taking home the tell-all envelope at her 20-week scan.
Ms Cunningham’s partner Dylan was all for the idea, telling her “to have her moment”.
The pair plan to tell the story to first daughter Evie, 11 months, and the baby when they are old enough – and haven’t ruled out a form of namesake to the pop star.
