An extra 1000 tickets to Sheeran’s previously sold-out show – in general admission standing and good seats (read: not nosebleed) – were released on Monday and are still available from Ticketek.
Before their release, more than 58,000 tickets had already been sold, meaning the venue will be packed when the new ones are snapped up.
When Sheeran played the venue exactly five years ago to the date – in pre-Covid times on March 7, 2018 – a 63,000 capacity crowd attended.
Set-up for the British star’s impending big gig started last week, indicating the sheer scale of the production.
Concertgoers will be able to get to the venue for free, with the state government announcing additional train and tram services before and after the show.
Free travel will apply to regular Adelaide Metro and Adelaide Oval bus, train and tram services to and from the city from 3pm until last service on Tuesday, March 7.
“As Ed Sheeran might say: ‘The car isn’t the best way to get to Adelaide Oval – so the bus is where I go’,” Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis said.
Sheeran will be supported by two young artists – Coodjinburra man Budjerah, from NSW, who appears on Sheeran’s remixed track ‘2step’, and rising British pop starlet Maisie Peters.
Gates open at 4.30pm, with Budjerah taking the stage at 6pm, Maisie Peters at 7pm and Sheeran at 8.15pm.
Fans can download their tickets through the Ticketek app and are encouraged to arrive early to the venue.
Known and loved for being down-to-earth, it’s unlikely that Sheeran will have a diva-esque backstage rider.

While Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee infamously demanded a fridge full of Corona beer, an M-16 rifle and a rattle snake – and got the booze, toy gun and a python – requests from Teddy (that’s Sheeran’s nickname for anyone living under a rock) are warm and fuzzy.
When his rider for an appearance at Glastonbury was leaked a few years back, it included a bottle of Robinson’s Squash, a six-pack of Coca-Cola, a six-pack of Diet Coke, a six-pack of Fanta Orange, a six-pack of Sprite and Manuka Honey.
Claimed humility is really cheap - it can be plucked out of the air (by a CEO) - but it can be earned. Learning to Embrace our Inner Loser by Josh Cohen to the dulcet background tones of #EdSheeran warming up at #Adelaide oval #AdlWW@SarahKanowskipic.twitter.com/LLtecCAITA

On Friday, Sheeran’s MCG show in Melbourne broke the record for highest ticketed attendance at an Australian concert, with 110,000 fans filling the stadium.
During the show, Sheeran delivered a touching tribute to his late friend Shane Warne – dedicating his song ‘The A Team’ to the cricket legend and his children.
“This is the song we first bonded over … this venue is really, really special to him, everyone from Melbourne and cricket fans all over the world,” Sheeran said.
“This one’s for Shane and his kids.”
Sheeran was also spotted hanging out with rapper Snoop Dogg in Melbourne, who will play the Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night for his I Wanna Thank Me tour.
