6.30am A refreshing juice of turmeric, ginger, lemon, and pineapple at Silo Hotel in Launceston while on a work trip.

7am A hearty bowl of granola topped with fresh kiwifruit, accompanied by a strong coffee.

9am On Flinders Island to meet farmers, I am welcomed with toasted coconut and banana bread with local butter, plus a comforting cup of Earl Grey tea.

1pm A memorable whisky tasting session at Furneaux Distillery.

7pm After an afternoon meeting local farmers, I am treated to Flinders crayfish, freshly caught from the ocean, which I pair with a pinot grigio from New Zealand.

Dr Joanna McMillan says

Top marks for… Starting the day beautifully. The turmeric has anti-inflammatory effects, the fruit is high in vitamin C and other antioxidants, while the granola delivers a fibre boost from the oats along with healthy fats, protein and nutrients, including magnesium, from the nuts and seeds.

If you keep eating like this you’ll… Tip your body towards an oxidised state as you are not eating enough plant foods, especially vegies, while challenging your liver to process alcohol. The banana bread is really cake made with white flour and sugar, raising blood-glucose levels without providing much nutrition.

Why don’t you try… Keeping the portions of such sweet treats small. Add a bowl of vegetable soup or a fruit-and-veg juice or smoothie to your day. Add a couple of sides of vegetables and/or beans, or a salad that includes wholegrains, to the crayfish.

Dimitri Weber is the founder and CEO of Australian perfumier Goldfield & Banks.
