The Little Ox
Contemporary$$
While an ox may not be little, this little cafe is as strong as one, pulling a heavy weekend trade. The pretty corner space sports striking white, yellow and black decor, and an approachable menu. Popular brekkie dishes include vanilla-infused porridge; and bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado in a brioche bun with aioli. Lunch might be an enormous sandwich filled with cauliflower fritters and beetroot, or a hefty porterhouse with onion and horseradish mayo. So popular is a salad of grilled chicken with quinoa, nuts, feta and sweet potato that it’s mortared into the menu. Locals keep up their strength with Red Star coffee.
