From the boys behind Brighton's Little Ox comes this large, buzzing cafe opposite Ripponlea station. H&H ticks all the boxes - recycled timbers, industrial light fittings, cool staff, quirky artwork and great Red Star coffee. But it's the food that makes this bird soar. Bircher muesli might be lifted by the addition of dehydrated raspberries and almonds, and a rich, spicy meatball pappardelle uses fresh pasta. Salads and sandwiches defy expectations, with house-made treats such as pickled walnuts, spiced yoghurt, salsa verde and chimichurri making the ordinary not so. Playful sweets and take-home meals round out the offering.
