Tasmania to reopen border on December 15

The future of Gore Street Medical centre hangs in limbo due to its GP’s anti-vaccination stance.

All health workers have until October 31 to get their Covid vaccination or else risk losing their jobs.

Dr Peter Baratosy said he was exploring his remaining options to see if there was any way to keep his practice open.

”We are getting legal advice and we can get back to you in due course,” he said.

Dr Baratosy declined to reveal whether he’d been vaccinated for Covid-19, however he has been publicly critical about vaccinations in general.

Dr Baratosy has written several books with titles such as “Can you really believe what your doctor tells you?”, “There is always an alternative”, and “Vaccination: it’s your choice”.

In the introduction to his book “Vaccination: it’s your choice”, Dr Baratosy warns “staunch pro-vaccinators” not to continue reading.

“This book will look at the negative side of vaccination …. so if you are very zealously pro-vaccine …. stop reading now,” Dr Baratosy writes.

“This book is about the side of vaccinations that is generally not available from the Health Department or the Pro-vaccination-ists.”

Dr Baratosy has publicly stated his view that modern medicine should only be used as a last resort for end-of-life scenarios, and that “natural” remedies should otherwise prevail.

He has also studied several branches of alternative medicine, including homoeopathy and acupuncture.

Tasmanian Health Department secretary Kathrine Morgan-Wicks said that all health workers must be vaccinated by October 31 under public health orders.

Ms Morgan-Wicks said there were roughly 3000 health workers who had not yet provided evidence that they had been vaccinated against Covid-19, as per the public health orders.

“As of today [October 22] our update is that we have over 12,000 health workers that have provided the evidence in relation to vaccinations,” Ms Morgan-Wicks said.

“We have as a headcount over 15,000 healthcare workers so we’re working every single day to make sure we can get that evidence and reach 100 per cent vaccination.

“If a GP continues to practice on 31 October without having sufficient evidence of vaccinations … they are then likely to be in breach of the public health direction and we’d act on that information.”
