Sunshine Coast residents with a disability, their families or carers have been encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get the Covid-19 jab through an in-house program and skip the lines.

Lismore residents barred entry into Queensland after one positive COVID-19 case

Sunshine Coast residents with a disability, their families or carers have been encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get the Covid-19 jab through an in-house program.

Lifestyle Supports’ director Omar Suleiman said about 30 staff or clients at his Diddillibah-based farm had received both jabs without a hiccup.

The vaccinations were administered on-site through Brisbane-based company Oceana Immunisations.

Mr Suleiman said having the jabs in-house meant it was a far less stressful process for some of its more hesitant clients.

He said it was a way to speed up the region’s vaccination rates.

“Basically instead of lining up at a hospital or GP which can be really scary, this ran really smooth,” Mr Suleiman said.

“Some people are scared or uncertain of getting it but this made it easy.”

Mr Suleiman said about 30 staff or clients at the centre received their second dose of Pfizer on Friday.

He encouraged others who hadn’t to get their jab.

“Some of our support people’s families have stated they don’t want anyone unless they have been vaccinated, so we are encouraging everyone to get it,” he said.

Oceana Immunisations nurse Natalie Sellick said they had handed out 47 vaccines on Thursday and were due to stop in at other Coast centres in Mount Coolum and Nambour.

The latest Queensland Health data showed, as of Friday, 135,682 residents had received their a jab.
