But Premier Peter Gutwein, in a video message to the Tasmanian community over the weekend, reminded the state “it’s not over yet” and the virus wasn’t “going to go away overnight”.

“Everyone has worked so hard, particularly our health professionals, to get the virus under control and no-one wants to undo it all by carelessly easing restrictions too early,” he said.

“Gradually getting back to our normal way of life while keeping the virus suppressed is going to be the hardest part of this fight.

“But … it’s a fight that we are winning.”

Processing of tests continued overnight.

Anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms is asked to arrange COVID-19 testing by contacting their GP or the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738.
