A truckie has faced court after he was twice caught behind the wheel with methylamphetamine in his system, a court has been told.

A Toowoomba truck driver has faced court after he was twice busted for driving with methylamphetamine in his system.

Wayne Ronald Wilson fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to possessing utensils or pipes that had been used, and two charges of driving a motor vehicle while a relevant drug was present in blood or saliva.

The court was told the 42-year-old was stopped by police in Toowoomba at about 10.50am on March 24 this year, and a roadside drug test returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine.

Police prosecutor Cameron Francis said a search of the vehicle revealed an ice pipe in the overhead sunglasses case of the vehicle, and that Wilson told police it was his.

Mr Francis told the court that on June 18 at 11.30am police intercepted a road train on the Warrego Highway, where a roadside drug test again detected the presence of methylamphetamine.

The court was told Wilson confirmed to police that he had recently smoked ice before he was stopped.

Wilson’s solicitor Troy Krahenbring said his client’s drug use came about as stress within a new relationship, as well as work pressure, became overwhelming but that Wilson has taken positive steps to address his work-life balance.

“I’d like to think that this is the only time he will be before the court,” Mr Krahenbring said.

Magistrate Howard Osborne convicted Wilson, imposed $1050 in fines and disqualified him from holding a driver’s licence for three months.
