Man assaulted in his home during early morning robbery in Kearneys Spring

The offender assaulted the older man in his home and fled in his car.

Police are searching for a grey Hyundai Getz (Qld rego 511 RHO) stolen from a Kearneys Spring home during an early morning robbery.

According to the initial police report an offender, believed to be aged in his 20s, attempted to break into the address shortly before 5am on Friday.

He was confronted by the 68-year-old occupant and demanded that he hand over his car keys.

The offender then punched the occupant in the face, stole his keys and fled in the Hyundai Getz.

Emergency services were called to the address and treated the man for bruising. He has since been transported to the Toowoomba Hospital.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said the car was last sighted in the Kearneys Spring area about 5.45am.

“We asked that we ask members to be aware of the vehicle and report any sightings to police,” he said.
