A 26-YEAR-OLD Toowoomba man charged in relation to the alleged theft of a black 2017 Audi from a Godfrey St home on Monday has appeared in the city’s Magistrates Court.

Russell William Gilliis remained in the watch house, with his solicitor Claire Graham telling the court there would be no application for bail for her client at this stage.

Ms Graham said she would be seeking some CCTV footage of alleged events and asked for an adjournment.

Gilliis, a 30-year-old man and two 14-year-old boys are accused of being in the allegedly stolen vehicle when apprehended on Tuesday.

Police claim the vehicle was spotted by members of the public driving erratically through the streets of Toowoomba on Monday.

About 10.15am on Tuesday members of the public reported to police that two juveniles were seen running from the allegedly stolen vehicle, and after a foot chase police were able to apprehend two 14-year-old boys on Rosbrook Court, Rangeville.

Toowoomba CIB officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said about 6.30am Wednesday the Audi was found at Westbrook 7-Eleven where Gilliis and a 30-year-old man were arrested.

Gilliis was not required to enter pleas to five counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles, three of disqualified driving, and one each of obstructing police and failing to appear in court.

The two juveniles appeared before the Toowoomba Children’s Court and each was remanded.

The 30-year-old man has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will face court at a later date.

There being no application for bail, Acting Magistrate Kay Ryan remanded Gilliis in custody and adjourned all matters for mention back in the same court on June 9.
