A person has died after a truck and vehicle collided on the Brisbane Valley Highway south of Fernvale.
The accident happened near the intersection with Mockers Rd about 1.50pm on Friday.
A 27-year-old man from Lowood suffered serious injuries and died at the scene despite the efforts of first responders.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 33-year-old North Booval man, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with minor lacerations.
A woman who lives near the crash site and wished to remain anonymous said she went out to investigate what happened and saw the horrific aftermath.
“I’ll tell you what, it was the loudest noise I have ever heard,” she said.
“We are a little bit down the road from the crash and we were sitting inside with the aircondition going but we heard this loud noise, like a bomb went off.
“I thought, because it was so hot, something exploded, like a drum of fuel.
“I didn’t go right up there but I could see what looked like car and a rubbish truck,
“The car had its whole front gone.”
