We name the under-17 boys and girls making mark in junior league

YOUNG TALENT: Take a look at the under-17 male and female players making their mark in Toowoomba Junior Rugby League this season. Find out who cracked the list from your club.

They’re the young stars just about ready to step up into the senior grades and more than a few already have senior caps to celebrate this year.

Here’s our look at the under-17 Toowoomba Junior Rugby League boys and girls leading the way for their teams this season.

Leteena Medland (Highfields girls)

A crafty and skilled playmaker with great ball playing skills.

Leteena, who made the Queensland Under-16 schoolgirls team this year and as well as featuring for the Western Clydesdales girls, leads by example and is strong in defence.

Charlotte Collie (Highfields girls)

A utility player who has really stepped up this season.

Charlotte’s quick thinking and smart decision making skills are a huge asset to the team.

The Western Clydesdales girls player and Darling Downs Schoolgirls rep player will be a key figure for the Eagles in finals this year.

Tayla Horrobin (Highfields girls)

A senior figure in the squad, Tayla inspires her younger teammates, giving them the support and confidence they need.

The star fullback is fast in attack and strong in defence.

The Western Clydesdales and Darling Downs schoolgirls star also made her senior debut this year.

Jadee Denton (Highfields girls)

The Queensland under-17 girls, Western Clydesdales and Darling Downs schoolgirls rep player has been massive for the Eagles this season.

Jadee is strong in defence and not afraid to take a hit up.

Indi Blissner (Dalby girls)

A tireless centre, who never gives up and is always a contender in attack.

Aaliyah Murray (Dalby girls)

One of the leaders in the Devils squad, Aaliyah Murray brings Clydesdales rep experience and is an elite halfback.

This year’s Dalby side is one of the more inexperienced line-ups in the competition but Murray’s leadership has helped the team gel strongly.

Ella Waters (Dalby girls)

Ella Waters has formed a dynamic partnership with her halves partner Murray and controls the game effectively at five-eighth.

She keeps the game moving forward and has a never say die attitude.

Mickiah Dodd (Dalby girls)

A second rower who is tough in defence, makes barnstorming runs and is an inspiring leader in the forward pack.

Lachlan Lyons (Souths boys)

A determined back rower who loves working on the edge is solid in defence and runs hard lines.

Brodie Hilt (Souths boys)

A creative hooker and solid defender who thrives on doing the hard clean up work in the middle of the field.

Kailan Roberts (Souths boys)

A hard working front rower who eats up the metres and gets the team moving forward thanks to his great ruck speed.

Jack Hellyer (Souths boys)

Jack is a classic ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ case.

He plays well above his size hitting hard in defence, takes the tough carries up the middle and works hard through out the game.

Ethan King (Pittsworth boys)

Missed most of the first half of the season through injury but is now poised to have a barnstorming second half.

The powerhouse forward puts fear in opposition teams with his strong running and solid defence.

William Hanlon (Pittsworth boys)

Plays big minutes for a middle forward and is able to bend any line with his hard running and drive opposition back with his defence.

Shows no fear, is fast for a big man and his improving cover defence has been a great addition to his game.

Anthony Lonergan (Pittsworth boys)

A versatile player who does his best work as a ball playing lock.

A quiet achiever, AJ has great hands and passing game but can also hit the line when needed. AJ is rock solid in defence and is a great asset to his team.

Lleyton Thompson (Gatton boys)

A determined forward who has great feet at the line and defends well.

Reagan Jackson (Gatton boys)

A fullback who is great under the high ball and has great vision.

Jacob Wood (Gatton boys)

An edge forward who competes on every single play and is a force to be reckoned with in attck thanks to his illusive footwork.

Jackson Harrison-Gander (Dalby boys)

A fullback who has speed to burn and the strength to terrorise any opponents who stand in his way.

He is one of the leaders in the team and is a true inspiration for all his teammates who look up to him.

Caleb Weiland (Dalby boys)

A big, strong forward who is not afraid to get in the thick of things.

He has amazing potential as and improves every time he steps onto the field.

Jacki Diete (Gatton girls)

Jacki Diete is a hard-working forward who boasts incredible dedication to the game and her team. Her experience and dedication translates to the field as she naturally leads and connects the team in attack and defence.

Bridie Sabburg (Gatton girls)

Bridie Sabburg is an incredibly dedicated player that leads through her workload and oner per cent efforts. She runs with no fear in the middle and always gives her all. Her constant hard work behind the scenes has allowed her to continually develop as a player.

Eden Passmore (Gatton girls)

A versatile player with incredible movement, that troubles teams as she freely steps and weaves on the field. Her continually positive attitude is rewarded by her ability to play in any position. Not only is she damaging in attack, but her defence technique only gets better with her growing experience.
