RACING: Promising sprinter Maya Bay continued his love affair with his home track.

The Tony and Maddy Sears-trained three-year-old made it three wins from four starts at Clifford Park with an impressive victory in the Focus HR Class 2 Handicap (1300m).

Making light work of a wide barrier, Maya Bay ($1.40 fav) was able to get across and take a forward position, before letting down strongly under the urgings of Luke Tarrant to score by ¾ lengths.

“He’s got his share of ability but is just very green,” Tony said.

“He’s only had a few starts and he’ll continue to improve as he goes on. Hopefully we’ll look at a midweek race in Brisbane then give him a break.

“Luke said he did a good job to keep going and winning. He was looking around all over the place in the straight where most horses would’ve stopped.”

The success gives the gelding three wins from seven starts, with two of those defeats coming to proven gallopers The Drinks Cart and Shooting For Gold.

It also gives Tarrant his third win from his last two meetings at Clifford Park, and Sears said there’s more to come.

“Luke’s a very good rider. We go back a long way and he’s a good friend of mine,” he said.

“It’s a real asset to have those good riders, and we’re happy to give him a ride any time.”

Incentivise turned the MNP Security Provincial Stayers Heat Benchmark 70 Handicap (2150m) into a one-act affair with a dominant display.

The Steve Tregea-trained four-year-old stamped himself as a future staying talent, racing away to score by 7 ¼ lengths for Kyle Wilson-Taylor, who is still on a high after riding a double at his metropolitan debut on Wednesday.

Nathan Fazackerley took riding honours for the night with a double aboard Rest Of The World and Isaready, as Toowoomba trainers swept the card for the second-successive week.

AROUND THE TRACKS

A big day of racing at Jandowae culminated with the running of the $11,000 Jandowae Cup Benchmark 65 Handicap (1500m).

Oakey trainer Patrick Sexton returned with the spoils, as Suffice ($4) got the job done with Tessa Townsend steering the gelding to a 1 ½ length victory.

Eskdale Girl ($5) gave apprentice Jasmine Cornish the biggest win of her young career, with the pair combining to take out the Jandowae Battle of the Bush Qualifier (1200m).

Under the care of Toowoomba trainer Ross Coveney, the mare scored by 1 ¾ lengths.

High Cost ($2.30 fav) made easy work of a 63.5kg impost, taking out the Charleville Battle of the Bush Qualifier (1200m) for Mark Johstone and Ben Moffat.
