Maddy Lockwood stamps herself as a bona fide star with extraordinary scoring feats

FOOTBALL: A change of scenery has worked wonders for Maddy Lockwood.
The Rockville Rovers striker has enjoyed one of the more incredible starts to a Toowoomba Football League season.
Just 18 years of age, Lockwood has slotted home 24 goals in just five games, including hauls of seven and 10 in her last two outings.
“I’m really loving playing for Rockville,” Lockwood said.
“They’ve all really welcomed me into the team. I have a lot of friends here so we’re having a lot of fun playing together.
With the SWQ Thunder last year, Lockwood said the chance to return to the TFL has helped her regain her best form.
“I put it (goalscoring form) down to enjoying the sport,” she said.
“I’m loving playing again. I had a tough year last year and it’s good to relax and have some fun. I needed a break from that level.
“It’s pretty amazing to be able to help my team and score a few. It’s a whole team effort, knowing that we’ve worked hard to score so many goals is good.”
Rockville has enjoyed a perfect start to the season, and Lockwood said they have the potential to make an impact in the league.
“I think with the way we play, we can go a long way,” she said.
“It’s a great team to be a part of.”
