Following a renovation boom which saw billions spent in a short time, many Toowoomba homes have seen an amazing uplift, with plenty of owners picking up the sledgehammer. See the inspiring home renos and how much they sold for here.

Billions were spent on renovations nationwide during the 2020/21 financial year, as more Australians turned to DIY jobs during the pandemic.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, $996.1 million worth of renovation approvals was allocated during July across Australia.

The July figure was a 1.3 per cent drop compared to the previous month.

The worldwide outbreak of Covid forced homeowners to take a hard look at their dwellings, with millions unable to leave their property for quite sometime.

Since 2020, Australia has seen a renovation boom, with my Darling Downs residents taking it upon themselves to update their homes.

Here are some amazing renovations across the district in recent years.

2 Christine Court, Cotswold Hills

This five-bedroom home was built in 2000, and first sold in 2006 for $392,000.

In late 2016, the property was sold for $495,000 and has since undergone a complete exterior and interior renovation.

Completed by Sharpe Building Group, a large extension, with a main bedroom and main living was added to the site.

On July 8, 2022, NGU Real Estate sold the property for $1,390,000.

4 Market Street, South Toowoomba

The original house was built in 1920, and during its lifetime has been sold multiple times, including in 2018 for $380,000.

The three-bedroom, one-bath home was flipped both internally and externally, including a new kitchen and laundry space, in 12 months.

7 Katherine Street, North Toowoomba

Built in 1945, the four-bedroom house recently had a complete renovation by Integrity New Homes Toowoomba.

The complete house flip was completed within six months of purchasing the property for $258,000 in March 2019.

The stunning renovations include a stunning new kitchen and bathroom.

The property was sold by NGU Real Estate in October 2019 for $380,000.

8 Edith Street, Newtown

The four-bedroom home built in 1930 created a new street record when it sold in June 2022 for $805,000.

The home underwent a huge renovation after it was purchased for $300,000 in March 2019, including a new kitchen bathroom and exterior look.

Its latest listing was only on the market for 15 days, and sold by NGU Real Estate.

8 La Vista Court, Middle Ridge

A complete internal renovation by Sharpe Building Group saw a brand new kitchen and bathroom installed, as well as other elements of the characteristic home.

The 2005 home sold for $735,000 in 2020, and has since also undergone a complete external makeover.

8 Lilley Street, East Toowoomba

A beautiful 1920s home underwent a complete renovation under the guidance of 3 Birds' Renovation and Integrity New Homes Toowoomba recently and was finished in under six months.

The house flip saw a new kitchen installed and was sold by Belle Property in Oct 2021 for $765,000, up from its 2020 sale of $600,000.

The owners of this property also flipped 10 Myers Street and 20 Maker Street.

10 Myers Street, Rangeville

A 1970-style home, the property underwent a complete renovation with the intention by the owner to flip and sell.

The three-bedroom house was purchased in February 2017 for $350,000 and later sold in October that year for $487,000.

The owners of this property also flipped 8 Lilley Street and 20 Maker Street.

16 Market Street, South Toowoomba

A 1920s home with characteristic traits was renovated over a 24-month period.

Part of the internal renovation included a new bathroom and kitchen, using the beautiful floor boards.

The house was purchased in July 2018 for $330,000 and following the renovation, was sold in September 2020 for $492,000 by NGU Real Estate.

19A Garde Street, Centenary Heights

A complete rebuild of the home in 2018 by Smith and Sons, this property was recently on the market and at the time of publishing, is under contract with Elders Real Estate.

Of the previous floor plan, only the kitchen and one bedroom was retained, while the rest of the home was stripped back to the frame.

Originally purchased in 2006 at $253,000, the home was expected to sell for almost $800,000 now.

20 Maker Street, Rangeville

Completed over a nine-month period, this renovation was intended as a house flip, after being purchased in October 2019 for $525,000.

Described by NGU Real Estate as a unique renovation, the home underwent a full renovation, including a new kitchen and bathroom.
It is estimated the home would be worth more than $750,000 now.

The owners of this property also flipped 8 Lilley Street and 10 Myers Street.

21 Blue Hills Drive, Rangeville

A two-storey home on a 903m² block, this home underwent extensive renovation over a 24-month period.

Conducted by Toowoomba builder Titanium Homes, the property was owner occupied through the renovation, which included a renovated kitchen, two bathrooms and both levels of the property.

Thought it is currently rented out, it was previously sold in March 2019 for $514,000, before being purchased by its new owner in February 2021 for $800,000.

22 Wentworth Street, Centenary Heights

A young family occupied a 1970s house and spent four years renovating the project to sell for a street record.

With a fresh new kitchen, bathroom, living room and rear entertainment area, the property sold for $555,000 in August 2021 by NGU Real Estate.

The price was up from the previous sale’s $365,000, and is now currently rented.

44 Dunne Street, Harristown

A huge renovation saw the 1930s house undergo rewiring, replumbing and a complete makeover in less than two months.

With the intention to flip the house, a new kitchen, bathroom and more was introduced into the frame.

The property was sold by NGU Realty in May 2021 for $395,000, up from that January’s $260,000.

56 Long Street, Rangeville

The property is currently for sale with NGU Real Estate with offers over $899,000, after previously been sold for $425,000 in February 2020.

The 1910-house had a full renovation by Antonio Building Group, which was completed within nine months.

The project involved a full extension of the property, adding in additional bedrooms, bathrooms and an outdoor area and shed.

188 Mackenzie Street, Rangeville

A fresh new look, this 1980 home underwent a complete renovation, including rewiring and replumbing.

Both internally and externally, the upgrades saw a new kitchen, bathroom, and more.

The renovation was intended as a flip, and completed within months.

The property was sold in February 2022 for $590,000, up from $370,000 in November 2021.

The house is currently listed for rent.

425 Alderley Street, Harristown

A three-bedroom home, this 1935 property has undergone numerous renovations during its time.

Previously sold in June 2019 for $333,000, the owners have touched up several rooms to bring the characteristic home back to life.

It was sold in November 2021 by Re/Max Success for $575,000.

54 Phillip Street, South Toowoomba

A complete renovation inside and out was completed in about 12 months by Phoenix Built on this 1935-house.

Featuring five bedrooms and two bathrooms, the home was owner occupied when it received a new kitchen and bathroom in the last few weeks.

156 Hogg Street, Wilsonton Heights

Another home to sell recently was this stunning home that received a full renovation and extension.

With a veranda extension, the renovation included a new butler’s kitchen, two new bathrooms, new plumbing, electrics, sewerage line and polished floorboards.

It was recently sold by Re/Max Success for $575,000, up from its February 2021 sale of $260,000.

22 Cavell Street, East Toowoomba

A gorgeous 1960s home, this four bedroom home has been renovated over the past 12 months by Tim Smith Constructions by its current owners.

The Renovations have included a new extension, with a kitchen, two bathrooms, and living space, while keeping the front cottage.

With a long rental history, the home was purchased in October 2019 for $500,000, compared to its last sale in 1992 for $97,000.

Renovations still continue in aspects of the property.
