Sydney NYE fireworks to be bigger and better than ever

This year has been a testing time for many – but soon we will be able to welcome in 2022 and say so long to 2021.

The Chronicle has gathered together a range of activities where residents can bring in the New Year.

1. Queen’s Park Fireworks

Toowoomba Regional Council will once again put on a spectacular fireworks for families in their well-known tradition of welcoming in the New Year.

“As a result of the new vaccination mandates and in order to keep our New Year’s Eve celebrations as inclusive as possible, there will be no prior entertainment, kids games or amusement rides this year,” TRC Environment and Community Committee chair Councillor James O’Shea said.

“To ensure everyone can be Covid safe and gets to be part of this tradition, we ask people to socially distance if standing or picnicking in the park.

“Alternatively, if you wish to stay in your car to watch the fireworks, please arrive early to secure a designated park.”

Mr O’Shea has encouraged families to support local eateries and have dinner before going to Queen’s Park.

The fireworks will light up the sky at 8.15pm.

2. Fitzy’s Studio 54 New Year’s Eve Party

Fitzy’s Toowoomba will welcome guests back to the streets of New York City in the late 1970s, with smooth sounds from James Ryle from 5pm in Church and beat-the-line dinners in the Tapestry, The Atrium and Church from 5.30pm until 8.30pm.

The Febs Duo will take over the dancefloor from 9pm, with disco ball cocktails and DJ Bure to keep the party going long after the clock strikes midnight.

3. Bring back the 80s at The Spotted Cow

The team at The Spotted Cow will transport guests back to the 1980s from 8pm on New Year’s Eve.

A three-hour food and beverage package is available for guests, while live entertainment takes them back in time with the help of Billie Joel, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and more music icons.

4. George Banks New Year’s Eve Party

DJ Quick and DJ Israel are sure to help locals welcome in 2022 at George Banks Rooftop New Year’s Eve party.

Starting at 7pm, guests can purchase a five-hour all inclusive package, featuring signature cocktails, tap beers, wines selections and grazing boards.

5. New Year’s Eve at The Irish

The Irish Club Hotel on Russell Street will kick off the 2022 celebrations early, with trading starting from 10am.

The venue is said to be delivering “epic specials” and hosting Goldie Horn from 9pm.

6. Ziggy Stardust New Year’s Eve Party at Bodega

The Bodega Bar, with the help of Sticks and Tones, will ring in the New Year with a touch of Ziggy Stardust.

A huge selection of drinks, a “Ziggy worthy jiggy dance floor” and a midnight confetti cannon will welcome guests.
