Here’s all the great events and activities happening around the region these school holidays. Whether it be meeting some cute Aussie animals or learning some cool new skate tricks, there’s something for everyone.

Here are several great activities for kids of all ages to enjoy over the holidays, and the best part is most of them are free
1. Get a little dose of art and culture
Toowoomba Art Society and the Toowoomba Art Gallery is injecting a healthy dose of colour and culture into the community this weekend with the launch of two new exhibitions.
The 45x45 Members’ Autumn Exhibition and the Youth Exhibition both launched earlier this week and showcase a wide range of works from art society members as well as works by primary school students who attend after school and Saturday art classes at TAS.
The Culliford Gallery is located at 1 Godsall Street and is open from 9am-noon Tuesday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday and Sunday.
Toowoomba Art Gallery is also launching a handful of exciting new exhibitions over the next week.
The Toowoomba Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am-3.30pm and Sunday from 1pm-4pm but closed Mondays and public holidays.
2. Become a wildlife ranger
Step into the shoes of a Wildlife Ranger these school holidays at the Cobb and Co Museum and get up close and personal to some of Australia’s favourite animals and learn all about their day to day lives.
Live shows will be running at the museum at 10am, 11am and noon each weekday from Tuesday, April 6 to Thursday, April 15.
Cost is $10 per child and pre-booking is highly encouraged as numbers are limited.

3. Try out laser skirmish
As part of Youth Week 2021, the Toowoomba Regional Council, Youth Leaders and Youth Connect will deliver a number of fun, free regional programs over the next few weeks including laser skirmish, circus classes, photography and art workshops as well as sport activities with QLD Cricket and AFL Queensland.
Games of laser skirmish for participants aged between 12 and 24 years will take place across the region from April 7-14:
– Pioneer Park in Goombungee on Wednesday, April 7 from 9-11am
– Settlers Park in Kingsthorpe on Wednesday, April 7 from 1.30-3.30pm
– Memorial Park in Yarraman on Thursday, April 8 from 9-11am
– Skelly Recreation Reserve in Crows Nest on Thursday, April 8 from 1.30-3.30pm
– Millmerran Recreation Reserve on Monday, April 12 from 9-11am
– Cecil Plains Recreation Grounds on Monday, April 12 from 1.30-3.30pm
– Clifton Recreation Grounds on Tuesday, April 13 from 9-11am
– Cambooya Recreation Grounds on Tuesday, April 13 from 1.30-3.30pm
– Bridgman Oval in Pittsworth on Wednesday, April 14 from 9-11am
– Obst Park Oval in Wyreema on Wednesday April 14 from 1.30-3.30pm

4. Run away and join the circus
Explore the action-packed world of circus at the Circa Classes as the experienced trainers take participants through tumbling, acrobatics, handstands and more.
Over the course of two workshops, you will discover your inner acrobat – no experience required.
The sessions are part of Youth Week 2021 and are structured from children aged between 6-17 years.
Sessions are running at the Crows Nest Community Centre on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13 and at the Millmerran Community and Cultural Centre on Wednesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 15.
There are two sessions, children aged 6-11 years runs from 10.30am-12.30pm and Youth is for 12-17 year olds from 1.30pm-3.30pm.
Registrations are essential as spaces are limited to 16 participants per workshop.

5. Brush up on your ollies, kick flips and skate park skills
Gain confidence, get comfortable with your balance and learn a whole new set of skills thanks to the awesome coaches from Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative.
These fress sessions for 12-14 year-olds are running at the Oakey Rotary Park on Campbell Street on Wednesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 15.
The freestyle scooter lesson is happening on Wednesday, April 14 from 9-11am.
A beginner skateboarding session is running on Thursday, April 15 from 1.30-3pm and an advanced skateboarding and mini-competition will be held on Thursday, April 15 from 3-5.30pm.

6. Make a day of it at the Toowoomba Royal Show
The Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show has been an unrivalled production of the very best in entertainment and agriculture displays on the Darling Downs since 1860 and 2021 is set to be no different.
The 157th Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show will be held from Friday, April 16 to Sunday, April 18.
Make a day of it and take the whole family out for a day at the show.
Tickets must be pre purchased and are available online from the Toowoomba Royal show website.
7. Have a crack at the Top of The Range Adventure Trail Run
Join in on all the action on Sunday, April 18 from 6-11am for Toowoomba’s first trail running event at the scenic location of Picnic Point.
You don’t need to be an elite athlete to enter the Top Of The Range Adventure Trail Run – this event is open to seasoned runners and first timers alike.
No matter which distance you choose this welcoming and family orientated atmosphere will ensure you make it to the finish line wanting more.
Every participant gets a hat and a medal.
