Getting out of swiping left or right to potential matches on your phone and back to meeting people face-to-face is what has stirred the pot for a new business to help Toowoomba singles find love.

Frustrated at endless back and forth text messages, continual ghosting, or catfishing on dating apps, best friends Amy Jopling and Daniel Ostrofski teamed up to start AD Dating Services.

Aimed at getting back to the “old school” dating methods of meeting in person, shaking hands and having a conversation, the business is having a debut speed dating event on Saturday, March 23, at Club Toowoomba and has already sold out to 36 lucky males and females.

“Dress to impress, be yourself and be open to wanting to try new things and make new connections,” Ms Jopling said.

“Everyone is asked to be respectful to ensure the event is a safe and secure place, and we do have a contingency plan in place.”

The event has drawn a lot of interest across ethnicities, backgrounds and ages, from 20-60, she said.

Each person will get a 5 minute date, with the men moving around the table.

If you are interested in making further connections with someone you can write your number down on a business card on the table, she said.

Everyone will have a chance to mingle during intermission as well as stay on after the event finishes.

Ms Jopling (34) and Mr Ostrofski (44) are both small business owners with backgrounds in marketing and hospitality, and have been single for a couple of years.

Understanding the struggle to find a partners as you get “fussy” with the “wisdom that comes with age”, they are looking forward to offering more events in the area, from blind dates, to group dinners, to social mingling events, and dances.

“It’s not just about finding love, but also about making friends and getting out,” Ms Jopling said.
