More pharmacies across the Darling Downs have been given to green light to administer the Covid-19 vaccine.
An additional 82 community pharmacies across the state can now offer both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca jab to residents from Monday, joining 49 others in Queensland.
Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s Chris Owen said eligible pharmacies not currently involved would be invested to express their interest in vaccinating the community.
“Successfully vaccinating Australians relies on all immunisers working together to achieve one goal – providing many safe and accessible options for Australians to receive their vaccination,” he said.
“Including community pharmacies in the vaccine rollout is vital for rural and remote communities who don’t have access to doctor surgeries or vaccination hubs.”
The jab boost comes as Queensland recorded one new local case of Covid-19 on Monday, as fears grow around spread of the delta variant.
The new case is a fully vaccinated man who travelled from China to Queensland and tested positive to Covid-19 after completing 14 days of hotel quarantine.
Darling Downs Health reported earlier on Monday short wait times at its Baillie Henderson vaccination clinic, but walk-ins are only available for healthcare and aged care workers, critical and high-risk workers and people requiring their second dose.
