PM: ‘The lockdown comes to an end with the lockdown working’

With news a 17-year-old female student has tested positive to Covid-19, Brisbane’s Indooroopilly State High School has been identified as a close-contact exposure site on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Anyone who attended the school between 8am and 10am on Tuesday, and 8am and 3.30pm on Wednesday, must get tested and continue to quarantine even after receiving a negative result.

Ipswich CBD Community Vaccination Clinic has also been deemed a close-contact exposure site between 8am to 9am on Thursday.

And the David Jones department store at Brisbane’s Westfield Chermside shopping centre has been identified as a casual-contact Covid-19 exposure site for seven minutes last Friday.

Anyone who visited the store between 11.06am and 11.13am on July 23 should get tested and quarantine until they receive a negative result.

Queensland Health also added two new low-risk exposure sites to the list from Thursday, July 29.

Anyone who attended Nicholas Street Mall at Ipswich between 8am and 9am, and Ipswich Hospital Fever Clinic between 9am and 10am, should get tested but are not required to quarantine.

A flight from Brisbane to Perth on Sunday has also been added to the list as a casual contact site, linked to an earlier case.

Anyone on Virgin Flight VA466 between 12.53pm and 5.12pm should get tested and continue to quarantine until they receive a negative result.

Earlier this week it was revealed a Covid-19-positive patient who stayed at a Brisbane backpackers’ hostel for more than a week was unknowingly infectious in the community for four days.

Queensland Health has identified a number of exposure sites relating to the state’s latest case.

The man had attended City Backpackers and Joe’s Place Backpackers on dates from Tuesday, July 20, to Wednesday, July 28.

Authorities believe he was infectious for four days from July 22-26.

A number of low-risk exposure sites were also identified at Brisbane’s domestic airport, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Harbour Town Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.

Earlier this week, the list of Queensland Covid-19 exposure sites has been updated to include a shopping centre and sports store.

Westfield Helensvale on the Gold Coast was the latest shopping centre to be added to contact tracing lists when a fully vaccinated man tested positive to the virus after completing hotel quarantine following a trip from China.

A positive case attended Kmart in Westfield on Monday, July 12, with anyone having attended the site from 5pm – 5.30pm considered a casual contact.

Sporty’s Warehouse was also added to the list as a low-risk contact on 19 July.

Dates and hours that positive cases attended sites across the Gold Coast, including Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Q Super Centre, have been revised.

Earlier, there were 18 new contact tracing alerts for Goodstart Early Learning Parkwood on the Gold Coast from July 13 to 23.

Harbour Town Shopping Centre was also added to the list after a positive case went to Yum Cha Cuisine on July 17, and Mermaid’s Q Super Centre had Black Swan Coffee as an exposure site.

Across Brisbane more sites were also added in the Banyo, Nundah and Chermside areas.

Queensland Health said in a statement that the new venues were linked to a positive case who entered Queensland on July 14 from New South Wales.

Close contacts must immediately quarantine and get tested at the earliest opportunity and fill out contact tracing form, then quarantine until notified by Queensland Health even if a negative result is returned.

Casual contacts must get tested and quarantine until a negative result is returned, low risk contacts should get tested but don’t need to isolate.

Earlier, three barber shops in Chermside Shopping Centre were announced as exposure sites after a Sydney man who travelled via Ballina entered Queensland ignoring quarantine orders.
