Regional Queensland’s road toll continues to rise after weekend double fatality

Another life has been lost on a Darling Downs road, leaving a family heartbroken by the sudden loss of their loved one.
At around 5.38pm on Sunday a 20-year-old man was travelling south on Wirraglen Rd in Highfields when his vehicle crashed into a tree.
It’s understood Queensland Fire Department crews worked to cut the man free from the vehicle.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the Toowoomba man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A second male passenger aged in his 20s also received potentially life threatening injuries and was later transported to Toowoomba Hospital.
The young man sustained injuries to his head, chest, and pelvic area.
The tragedy continued on Tuesday when one person was killed in a truck rollover in the Western Downs at Jandowae.
The truck is believed to have left the road, hit a tree and overturned at the intersection of the Jinghi Connection Rd and Old Burrandowan Road around 6am.
Two weeks earlier another crash claimed the life of a 17-year-old in the Southern Downs, after a yellow Ford Falcon crashed into a tree and caught fire on a rural road at Leslie Dam.
On November 8, two lives were again claimed when a prime mover and Isuzu FTR collided on the Cunningham Highway at Tregony, east of Warwick.
As of November 17, Department of Transport and Main Roads data showed the number of road fatalities in Southern Queensland had reached 61, with the latest incidents moving it to 63.
Queensland Police’s Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
