Woman ‘goes off’ at Warwick cops after earning court date

Warwick police claim the 24yo exploded in anger after she was pulled over for driving while disqualified. She was only one of the alleged offenders nabbed over the weekend.

A woman has been charged after she allegedly hurled abuse at police officers when she was pulled over for driving while disqualified in the Warwick CBD.

Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Shane Reid said the 24-year-old was intercepted on Acacia Ave about 3.30pm Sunday.

“She must have been intercepted in a vehicle for disqualified driving, and then she’s subsequently gone off and started swearing, which has resulted in the public nuisance offence,” Senior Sergeant Reid said.

The Toowoomba is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court in the coming weeks and her number plates were confiscated for 90 days.

Warwick police officers nabbed other alleged offenders at the weekend.

An 18-year-old Warwick man was pulled over on Fitzroy Street at about midnight on Saturday, where he allegedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05.

The P-plater was charged with drink driving and is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on July 26.

A Spring Creek woman was also allegedly busted behind the wheel with an illicit drug in her system on Fitzroy Street at about 12.35pm on Sunday.

The 42-year-old was charged with drug driving and will appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court at a later date.

It was a busy weekend across the board for emergency services in the Rose City, with a woman needing to be pulled from floodwaters in a dramatic rescue on Saturday night.
