Police are investigating after a Southern Downs property was broken into, with the thieves taking off with several valuable items while the owner was away on holiday.

It’s believed the property on Warrabah Rd near Karara fell victim sometime between May 31 and June 18.

Officers were notified when the owner returned to the property from their holiday and made the unfortunate discovery on Wednesday evening.

The offenders used a grinder to cut through secured doors and gain access to the property.

Two of the missing items from the property, a trailer and red Honda CRF300 quad bike were located around 10am on Thursday on Green Class Rd and both had been extensively damaged by fire.

Investigations are ongoing.
