Police raiding Nicholas Steven Billsborough’s home had zero impact on the Warwick drug dealer who was busted twice in two months in his home with large quantities of marijuana.
The well-dressed young father faced 15 charges related to drug supply and possession in the Warwick Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 6.
The court heard on January 19 police swooped in on the 23-year-old’s Warwick home where police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said officers uncovered “99g of cannabis, electronic scales, a clip seal bag, an electric grinder and a water pipe”.
Police also seized Billsborough’s mobile phone and conducted a cellebrite download of the phone’s contents.
“During the cellebrite download police found extensive messaging using Facebook Messenger and SMS that suggested there was a supply of various quantities of cannabis,” sergeant de Lissa said.
When police returned to the property on March 17 to return the phone sergeant de Lissa said “police found .8g of cannabis, a water pipe bong and clip seal bag suspected of being used for the purpose of committing a crime”.
Sergeant de Lissa added that in a six-month period the unemployed man’s drug charges escalated from six supplies to 10 supplies.
Defence lawyer Phillip Crook told the court Billsborough originally began using cannabis after suffering serious injuries in a car accident.
Mr Crook added his client understands he has an issue with cannabis use and wants to change.
The court heard Billsborough has been going to Drug ARM since February 1.
Magistrate Julian Noud told Billsborough drug dealing cultivated misery in society and he needs to correct his ways.
“I accept that you have had an addiction to cannabis for sometime, it would be naive to think that your drug habit could be corrected overnight,” he said.
The father of one was given a probation order of 18 months and will have to submit to random urine tests.
Billsborough pleaded guilty to all charges, which included 10 supply of dangerous drugs, two of drug possession, two of the possession of a pipe and one of possessing property suspected to be used for the purpose of committing an offence.
No convictions were recorded.
