A man has died following a horror crash across the Queensland-NSW border overnight, where a truck and car towing a caravan collided on a major highway.

It’s understood the incident occurred on Tuesday about 4pm along a stretch of the Newell Highway at Boggabilla.

Queensland paramedics assisted their NSW counterparts to assess three patients at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was treated for life-threatening injuries but sadly died at the scene.

A woman in her 70s was also assessed and taken to Moree Hospital in a serious condition.

A NSW Police spokesman said the driver of the truck, a man in his 40s was uninjured and taken to Goondiwindi Hospital for mandatory testing.

New England Police District officers established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit is now investigating, the NSW Police spokesman said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
