A heartbroken father who was already grieving the loss of his stepdaughter earlier this month is preparing for the funeral of his son following a tragic crash.

Hayden Webb, 19, died on March 21 in a crash between his motorbike and a car at the intersection of Diddillibah and Nambour Connection roads.

His brother, Scott Webb, previously told the Sunshine Coast Daily that Hayden was “the kindest, most caring person” who would do anything for anyone.

Hayden’s father Craig Webb, his voice heavy with emotion, said he worked with Hayden and taught his three boys to ride motorbikes.

Craig had recently arrived home, following the funeral of Hayden’s 36-year-old stepsister in New South Wales, when he answered the phone call no parent wants to receive.

“I was only back at work for one day and I got the phone call that Haydo was gone,” he said.

“I just miss him so much.”

Craig also said his “heart goes out” to the 79-year-old Woombye woman who was driving the car involved in the crash.

“It’s just a sad outcome for everyone,” he said.

Craig said Hayden had “so much potential” in life.

“And his girlfriend, they were just talking about what they were going to do in life,” he said.

The family will erect a green cross, which was Hayden’s favourite colour, at the crash site.

Elizabeth Aitken was Hayden’s boss for two years at A1 Coaters, a Warana powder coating business, and said the 19-year-old was like her adopted son.

She said he had an “entrepreneurial” streak and would have made a great manager.

Ms Aitken said Hayden was her “all-rounder” who she missed not only because he could do anything but because of his personality.

She said, like all teenagers, it was hard for him to wake up in the morning.

“He’d have 10 alarms set to wake up,” Ms Aitken said.

“Once I got him here, he’d work like a machine.

“He was late every day but I’d look into his blue eyes and go ‘come on, get to work’.”

The boss said Hayden had work cover but at his young age it was minimal.

“Personality-wise, you could not have gotten a better kid,” Ms Aitken said.

She has started a GoFundMe with a $7000 goal to help Hayden’s family with funeral expenses.

Another Sunshine Coast man and fellow motorbike rider Kurt Semple saw the fundraiser and decided to organise a motorbike ride to raise money for the funeral too.

He did not know Hayden but wanted to raise money in his own way and to acknowledge the fellow rider.

“To see someone lose their child at such a young age, it just sort of hits home, and I felt like it would be nice for the family,” Mr Semple said.

The riders will meet at 8am on Sunday, April 2, on a gravel section of road opposite the crash site on Diddillibah Rd and will have an opportunity to donate some cash before donning something green.

Mr Semple said it was hard to predict how many people would meet on the day but he was expecting about 50 riders to travel from Woombye up the range and to finish at the Banana Bender pub where they would “raise a glass” in Hayden’s memory.

Hayden’s dad said if he could borrow a motorbike, he would ride with the group.

The police investigation into the crash continues and anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident should come forward via Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 6, at White Lady Funerals in Nambour and starts at 2pm.
