A teenager has died in a horror crash involving a car and a motorcycle on a major Sunshine Coast road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash between a car and a motorbike in Woombye at the intersection of Diddillibah Rd and Nambour Connection Rd about 8am Tuesday, March 21.

The 19-year-old Buderim man, the motorbike rider, died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 79-year-old Woombye woman, was not physically injured.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman earlier said traffic had been held up in the area as one lane had been closed following the crash.

The crash occurred about 1km from a horror crash in April 2021 in which two men in their 20s died on Nambour Connection Rd.

They were helping with repairs for a bus broken down on the side of the road when the tragedy occurred.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the latest crash.

Anyone with dashcam footage, or any information should come forward by contacting Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

In a separate incident, a motorcycle rider in his 40s was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after he crashed into a tree at Coles Creek Rd, Cooran about 1.15pm Tuesday.
