Near drowning at Noosa North Shore a day after body found at Peregian

A person was plucked from the water north of Noosa less than a day after a woman’s body was found on a popular Sunshine Coast beach.

One person has been rushed to hospital after he was pulled from the water at Noosa North Shore, less than a day after a woman’s body was found at one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular beaches.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a male, age unknown at this time, was in a stable condition and being checked by paramedics near beach access 6B on the Noosa North Shore.

Paramedics were called to the beach about 6.40am on Thursday, March 2.

This latest incident comes less than 24 hours after a woman’s body was found washed ashore at Peregian Beach.

In what was described as a “tragic” incident by lifesavers, the woman’s body was found at the northern end of Peregian Beach about 1pm on March 1.

The latest incident follows the death of a 39-year-old man on Kings Beach on February 13 after he was pulled from the water by surfers and the disappearance of 21-year-old Jye Mattern when he went swimming with his brother at Teewah Beach on January 21.

Jye’s brother, Zac, revealed his final moments with his beloved sibling and warned of the dangers of the ocean when even a confident swimmer and former lifeguard like Jye could disappear.

The mother of Lucinda McGrath, 27, has revealed her heartache following her daughter’s death at Bulcock Beach in Caloundra on January 22 and a French backpacker died after she was pulled from unpatrolled surf near Stumers Creek, at Coolum Beach, on January 5.
