A 21-year-old woman killed in a head-on collision near Gympie has been remembered as a ‘beautiful, kind-hearted daughter’ as Qld counts the cost of its devastating road toll.

A young woman killed in an horrific head-on crash near Gympie is being remembered as a “beautiful, kind-hearted daughter” by friends and family.

Shaylee Woods, 21, was the passenger in a blue Ford travelling along the Mary Valley Rd when it collided with a white Holden Colorado at Gilldora, 14km south of Gympie, about 11.45am Friday, July 18.

Ms Woods died at the scene.

Her death is one of 16 deaths on Queensland roads in the past week, with a peak motoring body warning Queensland is again on track to post a record year of road deaths.

The ute’s 17-year-old male driver was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with a life-threatening chest injury.

The driver of the Holden, a 67-year-old man from Redbank Plains, was taken to Gympie Hospital in a serious but stable condition with a chest injury.

A GoFundMe for Ms Woods, a resident of Victory Heights on the outskirts of Gympie, said the loss was “unimaginable”.

“Shaylee was not just a name in the news,” fundraiser organiser Forrest Gamble said.

“She was a beautiful, kind-hearted young woman, a much-loved daughter, a cherished sister to the Woods brothers, and a loyal friend to so many.

“Her smile lit up every room, and her heart was big enough to hold everyone she loved.”

More than $17,000 has been raised by the campaign in the two days since its launch, including a $10,000 donation from Marcus Schultz.

In a separate Facebook post, Ms Wood’s aunt Tabbitha Hobbs-Johnston said her “forever 21” niece was “another beautiful soul taken way too early”.

A total of 158 people have died due to road crashes as of July 20 – six of those on Saturday and Sunday.

A 28-year-old man, six-year-old boy, seven-year-old girl and 32-year-old man were killed in the horror crash on the Capricorn Highway between Comet and Blackwater on Sunday about 10.50am.

Two others were transported to hospital with serious injuries from that crash.

On Saturday morning, a 45-year-old North Mackay man died on the Bruce Highway at Mount Pleasant after he lost control of his motorbike and crashed into the back of a trailer.

At 6am that same day, 18-year-old Kingaroy man Kyan Martin, who was lying on a road, was killed after being struck by a car in Hivesville.
