THE last turn in the bid by Bunnings to open a hardware store in Coolum will play out in the Court of Appeal in Brisbane on Thursday.
Sunshine Coast Council and Coolum Ratepayers Association will be represented as the home-maker giant takes the final legal avenue available to it.
The protracted matter has dragged on since 2005 when Bunnings first announced plans for a development at 39 Barns Lane at the western entrance to Coolum.
It was rejected by Maroochy Shire Council in 2006, a decision upheld on appeal in 2007.
Bunnings came back with another proposal in 2012 before its final bid was rejected in 2016.
The matter has been in the courts since then. The appeal hangs on claimed errors in the last judgment in distinction between Coolum and Coolum Beach and definitions for showrooms and shops.
