Domic House, Noosa: Goldman Sachs CEO extends holiday-home stay

A banker and his family have spent months at one of Noosa’s most expensive holiday homes as the CEO remains under instructions not to travel.

A banker and his family have likely topped a million dollars worth of accommodation costs after staying at one of Queensland’s most expensive beach homes for four months.

Goldman Sachs Australia and New Zealand chief executive Simon Rothery and his family have been living at the $24m Domic House at Sunshine Beach since June.

The Australian newspaper reported that it was understood Mr Rothery suffered an accident in Noosa during what was initially intended as a quick break.

He had since undergone two surgeries in Queensland and was under instructions to not travel.

A week’s stay at Domic, located along Sunshine Beach’s prestigious Seaview Terrace, started at $70,000 in low season but increased to more than $100,000.

Based on the conservative weekly rate of about $70,000, it could cost $1.12m for a four-month stay.

In comparison, Mooloolaba’s median house price is $1.15m.

However the cost could be much higher with Mr Rothery’s stay including two weeks of school holidays.

It appeared the home was booked until October 24.

The home is owned by Russian hemp tycoon Evgeny Skigin and featured six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a 25m lap pool, sauna and gym and the same commercial-standard cinema found at Oprah Winfrey’s home.

In September it was featured in the “bible of travel”, Australian Traveller, as one of Australia’s top 100 unique stays.

The property was constructed last year and since then has attracted high-profile holiday-makers through Noosa-based agency Niche Luxury Properties.

Managing director Sue Willis in September said that the property had return guests and attracted many celebrities – although she stayed quiet on who had stayed at the property.
