A 12-year-old girl accused of “luring” another teenage girl to a Tewantin home in March 2023 before she was allegedly tortured for hours on end has been forced to wait even longer to find out if she will be released from detention on bail.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been waiting for the outcome on a bail application in the Maroochydore Children’s Court since December 14.

She faces multiple charges including deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed in company, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery while in company used personal violence, enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, common assault and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. She has not entered a plea.

The matter was mentioned again in the Maroochydore Children’s Court on Tuesday, January 23, where it was adjourned for a fourth time.

The girl did not appear in court.

Lawyer Luke Bull told the court he was still waiting NDIS funding for his client, after it was previously revealed she was diagnosed with autism and low intellect.

He said the girl was also scheduled to have a meeting with a psychiatrist on January 22, but this did not go ahead as the psychiatrist needed funding for more hours than she had been provided.

Mr Bull hoped Legal Aid would process this needed funding quickly.

He told the court his client had now spent 152 days in custody.

Crown prosecutor Sanaz Masoumi said she did not oppose the matter being adjourned again.

Judge Gary Long then adjourned the matter to February 7.

The girl was remanded in custody.
