A Kallangur man alleged to have murdered his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend has made no application for bail after his matters were briefly mentioned in court for the first time as more details emerge.

Aaron Daniel Mitchelson Huckel, 19, was charged with murder and misconduct with corpse by interfering after the body of Emily Nicole Thompson, 18, was found dumped in bushland along Park Rd in Nambour about 3am on Sunday, October 23.

Police will allege Mitchelson Huckel and Ms Thompson had driven north to Nambour on Saturday evening after they met at the car park on Rob Akers Sports Reserve on Bells Pocket Rd at Strathpine about 4.30pm.

Detective Inspector Ben Fadian told the media on October 23 the pair had been in an “intimate relationship” that had recently ended.

Court documents revealed the Nambour-born 19-year-old cashier was alleged to have murdered Ms Thompson at the Rob Akers reserve in Strathpine before dumping her body in bushland hours later.

Inspector Fadian said Ms Thompson’s family called police about 7pm Saturday after she had not turned up at home, with her car found at the reserve.

Detectives say the length of their relationship was still under investigation but there were no domestic violence orders in place.

Inspector Fadian said the man was found alone in Currie St at a service station about 8pm Saturday, 1km from where Ms Thompson’s body was found.

Mitchelson Huckel, of Kallangur, was taken into custody about 8.30pm Saturday.

The car park, the service station and the bushland in Nambour were declared crime scenes with a 2016 white Ford Mustang and blue 2012 Mazda 3 sedan seized for forensic examination.

A post-mortem examination of Ms Thompson’s body will be conducted to determine the cause of her death.

Detectives were still investigating where she was allegedly killed and if Mitchelson Huckel had links to the Nambour area.

“The family of the young lady have been advised and as you would appreciate they are devastated,” Inspector Fadian said.

“It’s a tragic event, the young lady is 18 years of age, she has her whole life ahead of her.

“This is a good young lady … and this has happened to her. It’s a tragedy.”

In a statement issued by Queensland Police, Ms Thompson’s family wished to thank the community for their support and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Mitchelson Huckel did not appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, October 24.

His matters were briefly mentioned and he was represented by duty lawyer Michael Robinson.

No application for bail was made and the matters were adjourned until October 31 when he was due to appear via videolink in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.

Detectives were appealing for anyone who witnessed a white 2016 Ford Mustang near the Rob Akers Sports Reserve at Strathpine between 4pm and 6pm, and on Park Road at Nambour between 6pm and 8.30pm to come forward.
