The drug case of a former Noosa Heads chef who once worked with Gordon Ramsay has progressed following his arrest during a targeted police sting.
James Robert Phillis, 38, was arrested on August 11 during Operation Taipan Three which targeted nine homes in the Noosa, Tewantin, Coolum Beach and Cooroy areas on August 11, 2022.
During the raid police seized 70g of amphetamines, 383g of marijuana and $6000 which they allege belong to the Noosa Heads man.
He was charged with two counts possessing drugs, possessing pipes and possessing tainted property and had not entered pleas.
Defence lawyer Bruce Peters appeared on Mr Phillis’ behalf in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on August 12 where he was granted bail.
His matter was heard again in court on October 21, with the court told Mr Phillis’ brief of evidence was available to be collected by his defence team.
It was adjourned to December 2.
Police alleged during a previous bail application the amphetamines found at the Noosa Heads property had an estimated street value of $21,000.
Mr Peters previously told the court that Mr Phillis had fallen into drug addiction following the breakdown of a relationship.
Mr Phillis’ lawyer said the drugs allegedly found were for the 38-year-old’s personal use and the money was not “drug derived”.
