A motorcyclist is in hospital after a rescue chopper was called to a serious crash near Kenilworth.

A motorcyclist is in hospital after a rescue helicopter was called to a serious crash in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Emergency services were called about 2.20pm to the intersection of Booloumba Creek Rd and Maleny Kenilworth Rd in Cambroon, south of Kenilworth, following the crash between a motorbike and a vehicle.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the motorbike rider was in a serious but stable condition with serious leg injuries.

A rescue helicopter had landed at the crash site.

The motorcyclist was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Earlier, a Queensland Police spokesman said officers were also at the scene.

This latest incident follows a serious crash between a ute and motorbike in Peregian Beach in February.

In another crash, a 69-year-old Sunshine Coast motorcycle rider who lost control of his motorbike in North Arm just days before Christmas died in hospital last month.
