Peregian Beach crash: Motorbike rider at Gannet St seriously injured

Police officers are investigating a serious motorbike crash in a suburban Peregian Beach street on February 7.

A motorbike rider was rushed to hospital in a serious condition with significant arm and leg injuries after the two-vehicle crash.

The Sunshine Coast forensic crash unit is investigating the crash.

Paramedics, including critical care officers, were called to the crash at the intersection of Cormorant Cres and Gannet St just after 11.20am Tuesday, February 7.

Dramatic video footage from the scene shows emergency services surrounding a patient and a motorbike wedged against a ute in the foreground.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man had been transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition with significant arm and leg injuries.

A Sunshine Coast University Hospital spokeswoman said the rider was in a stable condition today, February 8.

Queensland Police and Queensland Fire and Rescue officers were also on scene.

It was a busy day for emergency services on Tuesday with four people were treated for injuries in a crash at Main Rd and Maroochydore in Maroochydore.

In December 2022, it was reported that Queensland was set to record its highest number of road fatalities in more than a decade amid an increase in fatal motorbike incidents.
