A woman has been declared dead on scene of a horror crash in the wet in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Monday morning.
The 62-year-old Imbil woman died following a single-vehicle traffic crash at Belli Park on the Sunshine Coast.
Initial investigations indicated the vehicle was travelling along Eumundi Kenilworth Road around 10.50am when it crashed into a tree.
The woman, the driver and sole occupant, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Earlier, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said emergency services were called to Eumundi Kenilworth Rd in Belli Park, near the intersection with Paddy Melon Ln, about 10.50am, after the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
She said the woman driver was still inside the vehicle.
The road was closed in both directions for some time.
It comes after a busy weekend for emergency services on Sunshine Coast roads, after they were called to serious motorbike crashes and more.
