Dramatic footage has shown the moment LifeFlight paramedics winched a man travelling on board a cruise ship destined for Brisbane off the deck after he suffered a cardiac incident.
The man in his 60s suffered from a cardiac event in waters just north of K’gari yesterday afternoon, with the cruise ship’s medical team providing his initial treatment before the LifeFlight helicopter arrived.
A critical care doctor, a paramedic and a rescue crew officer were all winched down to the cruise ship’s deck, which was travelling from Singapore to Brisbane, to stabilise the man and prepare him to be flown to hospital.
It is understood the man suffered from a cardiac condition.
The man was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable condition.
