Woman flown to hospital after fall into fire pit at Conondale home

A woman was rushed to a Brisbane hospital on Christmas Day after she suffered life-threatening injuries following a fall into a fire pit on the Sunshine Coast.

A woman has suffered life-threatening burns after a Christmas Day mishap on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to an address in Conondale after 3pm to reports a woman had fallen into a fire pit during Christmas Day celebrations.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the incident occurred in the backyard of the home.

A statement from LifeFlight read their helicopter was sent out at 3.35pm and landed at a school oval.

The woman in her 70s suffered severe burns to her back and abdomen from the fall and was treated on scene by paramedics before the helicopter arrived, the statement read.

She received further treatment from the LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance flight paramedic, and was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
