A major Sunshine Coast shopping centre has been evacuated and emergency services were called after smoke was seen coming from one of its buildings.

Firefighters, paramedics and police were all called to Kawana Shoppingworld on Point Cartwright Dr in Buddina about midday on June 29 after an alarm went off.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said two fire crews were called to the scene and the shopping centre was evacuated after smoke was seen coming from one of the buildings.

A different spokesman said one of the crews left the scene at 12.35pm, and there was no sign of fire.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said no one was injured or treated in the incident and paramedics were stood down at 12.25pm.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were not needed at the scene either.

A Kawana Shoppingworld spokeswoman confirmed the centre was evacuated due to a false fire alarm.

“The centre and all of our retailers have safely reopened and we thank all of our customers and retailers for their quick response,” she said.

“The health and safety of all of our customers, retailers and employees is our highest priority.”

The centre was opened to shoppers about 15 minutes after the incident occurred.
