Collapsed shed company’s director, Kathleen Hansen, breaks silence

The director behind a collapsed Queensland building company has spoken about “unfair representations”, after issuing clients with defamation letters.

Why are so many companies collapsing in Australia?

The director behind a collapsed Queensland building company has spoken about “unfair representations”, after issuing clients with defamation letters demanding $20,000.

The Sunshine Coast-based shed company, Dynasty Property Developments Pty Ltd, entered liquidation last week, appointing David Stimpson from SV Partners.

According to multiple clients of Dynasty Property Developments, who have spoken with this publication, they’ve been left “devastated” after paying hundreds-of-thousands of dollars for sheds that they claim never arrived.

In a statement, Dynasty Property Developments director, Kathleen Hansen and former director, Trent Shaw, said they had been subjected to “unwarranted accusations”.

“We appreciate the opportunity to address recent accusations and clarify the situation surrounding our company’s operations. It’s imperative to us that the public has a clear understanding of the circumstances,” they said in the joint statement.

“The cash flow challenges we faced were primarily attributed to project delays, cost overruns, and inflated expenses. We are actively addressing projects overseen to mitigate any further issues.

“From October onward, we observed a concerning pattern of errors and delays, largely stemming from supply chain disruptions and on-site issues. We deeply regret the dissatisfaction.”

Within the statement, Ms Hansen and Mr Shaw stated they were mostly focused on marketing and sales as opposed to the operation of the Dynasty company.

“Regarding allegations of non-payment for project insurance and certification processes, it’s important to clarify that our primary roles within the company were focused on marketing and sales, not operational logistics,” they said.

“The individual responsible for managing invoices and payments can attest that our efforts were dedicated to fulfilling financial obligations and addressing on-site challenges.”

The couple also addressed the defamation letters they have issued to a number of clients, demanding a payment of $20,000, due to “unfair representation”.

“Additionally, we encountered significant challenges with suppliers, including incorrect deliveries and damaged goods. Despite our efforts to rectify these issues, we faced unwarranted accusations.

“We acknowledge the gravity of the legal matters surrounding defamation and have taken appropriate steps to address them. Both Kathleen and I have endured unfair representation during this ordeal.”
