Dynasty Property Developments commences defamation letters against former customers

The director behind a collapsed building company has issued former clients with legal bills and defamation threats, after they spoke out about sheds they paid for but never received.

Nicholas Malcholm from Gippsland Lakes, Victoria claims he was been left with just a concrete slab after ordering a shed from Dynasty Property Developments.

Clients of a collapsed Sunshine Coast building company have been issued with defamation concerns notices demanding they pay more than $20,000 in costs and damages, after they claimed they paid for sheds that were never delivered.

The company, Dynasty Property Developments Pty Ltd appointed liquidator David Stimpson from SV Partners on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

According to multiple clients of Dynasty Property Developments, who have spoken with this publication, they’ve been left “devastated” after paying hundreds-of-thousands of dollars for sheds that they claim never arrived.

Among those affected are a Victorian family, a Brisbane couple and a Sunshine Coast farmer.

However, after sharing their experience with the company on social media platforms some former clients have been hit with defamation notices and legal costs from the company’s director.

According to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents Kathleen Hansen is both the director and secretary of the company, which is based in Pelican Waters.

The previous director and secretary is listed as Trent Shaw, according to the corporate regulator’s documents, who acted in those roles up until May 2022.

A second company directed by Kathleen Hansen, Bawws Digital Media and Business Solutions, was also placed into administration with Mr Stimpson last week.

The company was registered in July 2021 and operated a business named Bubba Cloud, according to ASIC documents.

The legal notices come as Jeff Allman, owner of shed wholesaler EziBuilt Sheds, said he received about 12 orders for sheds from Dynasty Property Developments but never received the manufacturing payments.

“We’ve got about 12 or 14 sheds that we have engineered and are ready for supply, our next stage before we order the shed is that we require manufacturing payment and unfortunately we never received that manufacturing payment for any of the sheds,” Mr Allman said.

Mr Allman said he contacted a number of customers directly to inform them their sheds were not being ordered.

“There is nothing I hate more than people not getting what they paid for, this is hard earned money and when they pay for something they should get it,” Mr Allman said.

Mr Allman said he was working with affected customers to try and deliver the sheds.

Ms Hansen and Mr Shaw confirmed they had taken action against clients.

“We acknowledge the gravity of the legal matters surrounding defamation and have taken appropriate steps to address them,” they said in a statement.

“Both Kathleen and I have endured unfair representation during this ordeal.”
