A Stanthorpe mother who hurled a heavy pot plant at a couple’s car after an argument has paid the price for her fiery outburst in court.
Police were called to a disturbance on Amosfield Road at about 4pm on March 6, where Tiarna Marie Guaragna had gotten into an altercation with an unnamed couple.
Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa told the Stanthorpe Magistrates Court the pair eventually got back in their car and began driving away, at which point the 24-year-old picked up a terracotta pot and hurled it at the vehicle.
Sergeant de Lissa said the impact of the pot damaged the car’s bumper, panelling, and tail light, and left several paint scratches.
“The defendant said she was frustrated at the complainant and her partner for turning up at her house and wanted to send them a message,” Sergeant de Lissa said.
The self-represented Guaragna also told the Stanthorpe court her actions were driven by frustration.
“My last resort was to grab the pot, it was my way of saying ‘don’t come back and get off my property’,” she said.
Guaragna pleaded guilty to one count of wilful damage. She was fined $150 and ordered to pay a further $669.35 in restitution.
No conviction was recorded.
