An apprentice sparky on probation for drug offending has faced court again after he was busted driving home following a pub booze up.
Jacob Ronald Leo Miers, 28, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on November 2 to drink-driving.
The court heard that Miers, an apprentice electrician, got on the drink while watching footy at Emu Park’s Pine Beach Hotel and then decided to drive home.
About 11.30pm on September 23, police were patrolling Emu Park when they found Miers sitting in the driver’s seat with the car running and lights on in Wood Street.
Miers told police he had drank six or seven schooners before getting behind the wheel and he subsequently returned a blood alcohol reading of .135.
The court heard that Miers had a previous drink-driving offence on his history but that was a dated offence.
Solicitor Rebecca Harris said Miers, a fourth-year apprentice, had engaged with alcohol counselling.
Magistrate Grace Kahlert fined Miers $800 and disqualified him from driving for eight months.
Miers successfully applied for a restricted licence for his work and a traffic conviction was recorded.
