An aged care worker and mother has paid a hefty price for a night of drunken shenanigans at the Capricorn Coast.

Jodee Louise Delaforce was with friends on the evening of October 5 when things went from bad to worse.

About 6.20pm, police went to Cathne Street, Cooee Bay, after getting three separate calls from members of the public in relation to two intoxicated females in an Isuzu D-Max.

A witness told police that he had seen Delaforce reverse the vehicle from the road and collide with bushes on a block of land.

At the scene, police spoke with Delaforce and she said she was the driver and officers saw another female in the passenger seat who was “initially unresponsive and asleep or passed out.”

In Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 19, Delaforce, 32, pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

The court heard that on the night of the incident, Delaforce returned a blood alcohol reading of .183.

It was told she had no prior offending of this sort.

A self-represented Delaforce told Magistrate Grace Kahlert she was a community aged care worker and mother of three.

Ms Kahert said Delaforce was “grossly intoxicated” on the night of the offence and she was lucky she was not before the court with more significant consequences.

The magistrate accepted Delaforce’s behaviour was out of character for her.

Ms Kahlert fined Delaforce $1000 and disqualified her from driving for eight months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.
