A Capricorn Coast pensioner who was making his own cannabis oil has faced court after he was busted in a police drug raid.
Kelvin James Cranston, 62, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 30 to possessing marijuana and diazepam (valium).
The court heard that police had executed a search warrant at Cranston’s Byfield Road residence on November 23 last year.
Police prosecutor Brandon Selic said during a search of Cranston’s bedroom, police found 102g of marijuana in five clip-seal bags, about 50ml of cannabis oil, and 10 diazepam tablets.
The court heard that Cranston had no relevant criminal history since 2004.
Solicitor Krissy Cummins said Cranston was on a disability support pension and he suffered from a series of ailments.
“He made a poor decision to make his own cannabis oil,” Ms Cummins said.
Magistrate Cameron Press said Cranston was caught with a “sizeable amount” of marijuana before fining him $1000.
No conviction was recorded.
