Hiker rescued by helicopter after fall at Carnarvon National Park

A helicopter has rescued a woman in her 60s by winch after she reportedly fell while hiking and struck a rock at Carnarvon National Park.

Central Queensland helicopter rescue service CapRescue was tasked to the incident at the national park in Carnarvon Gorge, which is about 400km southwest of Rockhampton, about 1pm on Tuesday.

Due to the lack of a suitable landing area, the on-board rescue crew officer and critical care paramedic were lowered down to the woman.

She was treated for suspected head injuries, stabilised and winched to the helicopter.

She was flown to Rockhampton Hospital for further treatment.

A Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman said she had been discharged from the hospital.

In a separate incident, a woman in her 30s was transported to Rockhampton Hospital following a single-vehicle crash into a tree at Gracemere on Tuesday night.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the crash on Fairy Bower Rd at 8.29pm.

Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital in a stable condition.
