Construction is set to begin at Gracemere’s first Hungry Jacks later this year, the latest update reveals.

The fast-food restaurant and drive-through will be built on the corner of Lawrie and John Streets.

The tender for the project closed last month and while a builder had not yet been appointed at the time of publication, construction was expected to start later this year and be completed by mid-2024.

Hungry Jacks will also refurbish the two Rockhampton stores, on the north and south side, in the new year.

“The new Gracemere store will be an exciting addition to the area,” Hungry Jack’s Chief Marketing Officer Scott Baird.

“We wanted to ensure the locals had access to all the classic burgers, including the famous flame grilled Whopper, along with new menu items and barista-made coffee from Jack’s Cafe.”

The Gracemere property sold in December 2022 for $979,000 to Enhance Property Investments who have a portfolio of developments including Hungry Jacks in South-East Queensland.

The site has been subdivided and the rear section not used in the Hungry Jacks development has been listed for sale or lease.

Expressions are open through Jonathon Offord of Knight Frank Rockhampton for the 977 sqm development site advertised for $395,000.
